Welcome

Welcome to your Texas Driving Safety Course. Over the next six hours you'll work through ten modules covering the highest-leverage topics in safe driving. Most of what you learn will be familiar; the value is in seeing it organized, evidence-backed, and tied to current Texas law so you can apply it the next time you turn the key.

We're not interested in lecturing you. We assume you're a competent adult who already knows the basics. The job here is to surface what's specific to Texas, what's actually evidence-based, and what's worth changing in your day-to-day driving.

Why this course exists

This course exists because the Texas legislature decided that drivers cited for many minor moving violations should have an option besides points and fines. An eligible driver can petition the court to take a state-approved Driving Safety Course in lieu of a conviction.

Many insurers also offer a discount for completion, and a smaller number of employers (especially fleet operators) require the refresher periodically.

Tx. Code Crim. Proc. Art. 45.0511

The statute that lets eligible Texas drivers take a driving safety course in lieu of conviction. Your court has the final say and sets the deadline for submission.

Three things to confirm before you continue

Before you go further, please confirm three things. First, you are the licensed driver named on your enrollment. Second, you will personally complete every module yourself, without help. Third, you understand that course completion alone does not dismiss a ticket — your court has the final say, and you must submit your certificate by their deadline.

We will prompt you for identity verification a few more times during the course. Failed prompts are logged.

Personally completed

Allowing someone else to complete this course on your behalf voids the certificate and may carry separate legal consequences.

That's the preview

The other 9 modules cover the full Texas curriculum

Texas traffic laws and right-of-way · Vehicle dynamics · Perception and defensive strategies · Distracted driving · Alcohol, drugs & impairment · Sharing the roadway · Adverse conditions and emergencies · Crash causation and insurance · Final exam preparation.

Total course: 367 minutes (6+ hours) of content with statute callouts, formative checks, a 25-question final exam, and a TDLR-compliant certificate (sample-only while licensure is pending).

What this preview is not

Reading this preview does not satisfy any court or insurance requirement. The full TDLR-licensed course is the only way to earn a certificate Texas courts will accept. Until our license is finalized, certificates we issue are clearly marked sample-only.
