Texas Driving Record Costs by Type
Each DPS record type is priced separately — and they aren't refundable if you order the wrong one. Here's the lay of the land.

Texas DPS publishes current fees for each record type on its driver-records portal. The fee depends on which type you order and whether it's certified. Prices change occasionally — verify the current fee on the DPS site before ordering.
Where drivers get tripped up
DPS doesn't refund record fees if you order the wrong type — read carefully before submitting.
Certified records (2A, 3A) cost more than their uncertified equivalents (2, 3).
Convenience fees may apply when paying with a credit card via the portal.
What each record type typically costs
- Type 1 (status only) — single digits. Cheapest record DPS issues.
- Type 2 (3-year activity, uncertified) — single digits.
- Type 2A (3-year activity, certified) — low double-digits.
- Type 3 (complete activity, uncertified) — single digits.
- Type 3A (complete activity, certified) — low double-digits, typically around $20.
- Type AR (CDL abstract) — separate fee, varies.

Fee structure: what you're paying for
- DPS base fee — the published amount for that record type.
- Possible card-payment convenience fee (small, charged by the portal processor).
- If you use a third-party concierge service, an additional service fee on top of the DPS fee.
